Discolored Water
January 31, 2018
Are you experiencing discolored water?
Late Monday, the new upgraded pump station on CR 319 was officially put on line. The new pump station is capable of pushing over 2,650 gpm (gallons per minute) into the distribution system an increase of over 1,000 gpm with the older booster pumps. Our concern was the increase in flow rate would stir up iron inside the distribution piping and cause water discoloration. The flow rate was controlled to about 1,500 gpm and flushing along CR 319 was ongoing all afternoon and into the evening to prevent discolored water from getting into the distribution system downstream. We encourage anyone who notices any change in the water to call us, so that we can immediately flush in their area. We are trying very hard to minimize stirring up any iron issues in the start-up process. Over the course of the next several months, we will slowly increase the amount of water being sent from the pump station supplying our three elevated storage tank sites. This new addition to the pump station will significantly enhance our ability to keep our elevated storage tanks full during the peak water demands of the upcoming summer season. We answer phones 24/7 through the use of an answering service, the office is staffed and ready to answer calls Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.
